Age

We felt that with the content in the film and it being graded by the BBFC as a 15 that our age range would generally be 15 to 20. It cannot be lower than 15 as it is prohibited by the BBFC, even then the film's saubject matter is very mature and some people may not even understand it, therefore only more mature audiences will enjoy it. We felt that the characters are aged to a point that people above the age of 20 wouldn't be able to relate to the characters, people could relate with the strife that the character faces but not there age and age related issues like independence after 20.

 

Class

The characters in the film are typically middle class or were middle class. However an argument could be made that the film is directed towards the lower class as it features a lot of the characters as being in poverty, however I would argue that the character isn't culturally from the a lower class but rather from the middle class, so although the character is poor the middle class would be more likely to relate to her. 

 

 Gender

Our main character is a female which would most likely attract a more female audience as not many movies feature a female lead. However thrillers generally are something that men enjoy, so a male audience would also watch the movie. This is ideal as it gives it a large audience to market to, increasing profit.

 

Mental Illness

As the lead character suffers with a mental illness it will attract people who suffer from a mental illness or people who sympathise with those that have a mental illness. Not many movies feature someone with an extreme mental illness like schrizophrenia, especially in teenagers, so it could put the movie on a bit of spotlight as people who don't watch thrillers may watch the film just on the premise of the exploration of mental illness.

 

Thrillers

People who generally enjoy thrillers would want to watch this film. People who enjoy movies such as Seven, Psycho, The Machinist, Mememnto and Gone Girl would enjoy this movie as many themes overlap between these films such as mental illness or a mystery. We feel that this would be the most important demographic to market to as most of movie features the feeling of a thriller, which many thriller fan are willing to pay for so would most likely be the biggest demographic.
